The Demand Planner is responsible for developing and maintaining accurate demand forecasts that guide inventory planning, drive operational efficiency, and support revenue growth. This role partners closely with Sales, Marketing, Product and Operations teams to balance supply and demand, avoid inventory surplus or shortages, and ensure a seamless customer experience.

The Demand Planner is responsible for developing and maintaining accurate demand forecasts that guide inventory planning, drive operational efficiency, and support revenue growth. This role partners closely with Sales, Marketing, Product and Operations teams to balance supply and demand, avoid inventory surplus or shortages, and ensure a seamless customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and manage demand forecasts using historical sales, market trends, seasonality, promotions and other drivers.
- Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Product and Operations to align forecasts with go-to-market plans, promotions and product lifecycle changes.
- Support production planning by translating forecasts into short-, mid- and long-term plans to optimize manufacturing schedules and inventory levels.
- Monitor forecast accuracy and planning KPIs, identify root causes of variance, and implement corrective actions.
- Build and maintain forecasting models, dashboards and reports to support cross-functional decision-making.
- Document and drive continuous improvement of demand planning processes, tools and standards.
- Integrate new product introductions and transitions into the forecasting and replenishment process.
- Support demand planning system upgrades by partnering with IT and internal partners to define requirements, validate data migrations, verify forecasting outputs, update documentation, and train end users to ensure a smooth implementation.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- 2 years of experience in demand planning, forecasting, or supply chain analytics.
- Proficiency with demand planning tools and ERP systems (e.g., Navision, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills across departments.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience in the home décor, retail, or consumer goods industry is a plus.
- Understand business model, product portfolio, and demand drivers.
- Review historical sales data, forecasts, and current planning processes.
- Learn forecasting tools, systems, and key KPIs (forecast accuracy, bias, service levels).
- Build relationships with Sales, Marketing, Product, Operations, and IT teams.
- Identify gaps, risks, and quick-win opportunities in forecasting and inventory planning.
- Begin owning portions of the demand forecast and planning cycle.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align forecasts with promotions and product changes.
- Analyze forecast variances and implement initial improvements.
- Enhance reporting dashboards and improve visibility into KPIs.
- Support production planning with more accurate short- and mid-term forecasts.
- Take full ownership of demand forecasting and planning processes.
- Improve forecast accuracy through refined models and better data inputs.
- Standardize and document demand planning processes and best practices.
- Lead cross-functional forecast alignment discussions (S&OP or similar).
- Support or contribute to system enhancements, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
