Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and organized dental assistant/patient care coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be the first point of contact for our patients, providing exceptional customer service while managing the clinical operations of our orthodontic practice. This role requires strong administrative skills, familiarity with dental terminology, and the ability to handle various tasks efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and manage their check-in and check-out processes.
- Assist with scheduling appointments and managing the dental office calendar effectively.
- Handle phone inquiries with professionalism.
- Verify insurance information and assist patients with insurance claims and billing inquiries.
- Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Process patient payments and manage medical collections as necessary.
- Perform documentation review to ensure accuracy in patient files.
- Support the dental team by preparing care plans and assisting with patient intake procedures.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) system for managing patient information.
- Ensure the clinic and front desk area is organized and well-maintained.
- Assist with sterilization process and keeping track of inventory for dental supplies.
- Assist with taking orthodontic records (e.g. taking xrays and digital and conventional impressions)
- Assist with changing archwires and placement of Invisalign attachments
- Assist the orthodontist chairside
Experience
Candidates should possess the following qualifications:
- Previous experience as a dental assistant/receptionist
- Familiarity with dental billing, coding, and terminology is essential.
- Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills are required.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) candidates are encouraged to apply.
- Knowledge of health information management practices is a plus.
