What are the responsibilities and job description for the Artist position at Art Galleries?
Company Description
An Art Gallery is a space for the display of art, usually from its own collection. These galleries might be publicly or privately owned and may have open or restricted access. Though they focus on visual art, galleries often serve as venues for other cultural activities like performance arts, music concerts, and poetry readings. They also host themed temporary exhibitions, often featuring items on loan from other collections. Unlike commercial galleries run by art dealers, the primary purpose of an art gallery is not the sale of artwork.
Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for an Artist located in the New York City Metropolitan Area. The Artist will create original artwork, participate in gallery exhibitions, collaborate with the gallery's curatorial team, and engage with visitors. Daily tasks include conceptualizing and producing art pieces, preparing artwork for display, and maintaining a studio space. The role also involves working on special projects, attending gallery events, and contributing to the gallery's artistic programs.
