POSITION DESCRIPTION

This role shall be responsible for surveying, analyzing, collecting, organizing, & managing field conditions & data involving but not limited to poles, manholes, and cables for electric distribution projects and other related work. The incumbent shall perform assignments under the supervision of an experience field technician and shall be expected to follow all safety guidelines and procedures required.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follow company safety guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Assist with preparation of jobs through research internal records.
  • Performs vehicle maintenance (prep work, fueling, cleaning, inventory, etc.).
  • Operate company vehicle in a safely manner.
  • Setup traffic control and safety equipment at each job site.
  • Under supervision perform work in and around energized equipment.
  • Under supervision perform inspections, draft site layouts and detailed schematics, document site conditions through sketches and photography, and obtain field data necessary for design purposes.
  • Assist with filing, organizing, and maintaining data in company shared drives.
  • Clearly and properly document daily field data.
  • Assist with notifying and coordinating with Engineering & internal project teams to share information across the organization.
  • Draft Traffic Control Plans (TCP), as needed.
  • Build positive relationships with internal and external customers.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Minimum:

  • Experience demonstrating skill following technical instructions or procedures (for example, operating procedures, standards, code requirements, specifications).
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime, holidays, and weekends as required.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, comprehend and communicate clearly.
  • Proficient knowledge of computer uses (e.g. Word processing, E-mail and spreadsheet software, Adobe, etc.).
  • Ability to use hand tools and instruments such as gas detector, screwdriver, folding rule, calibers, shovel, pick, pliers, fiberglass stick, and measuring wheel.
  • Ability to push, pull, and/or roll up to 200 lbs. and lift up to 150 lbs., 4 inches off the ground, and slide the 150 lb. object a distance of 18 inches.
  • Ability and willingness to wear and use safety equipment as required by Federal, State, Local and company regulations.
  • Ability and willingness to adhere to safety regulations and policies.
  • Ability and willingness to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time (for example, lifting, entering/exiting manhole covers, climbing ladders and scaffolding, bending, twisting, kneeling, crawling, pulling/pushing, standing, walking, and squatting).
  • Ability and willingness to work in a variety of work environments including outdoors in all weather conditions, on or around energized equipment, in confined spaces, underground, in heavy traffic and in noisy and dirty environments with proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Ability and willingness to travel to various Company locations and work sites.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must pass the Criminal History Background Check which consists of a 7 year criminal record for felony convictions.
  • Must successfully pass a medical screening to include drug test.

Preferred:

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction plans, engineering drawings and utility plats.
  • Associates of Science Degree
