Part-time Sales Associate

We are looking for an energetic, creative, and detail-oriented individual to join our team. This role is a unique blend of traditional retail sales and hands-on creative instruction. You will be the face of the shop, helping customers find the perfect gift while also guiding them through the step-by-step process of pouring their own custom candles.

Retail & Customer Experience

• Greet customers warmly and provide a high level of personalized service.
• Maintain deep product knowledge to assist customers with gift selections.
• Process transactions accurately using our POS system and manage cash handling.
• Keep the sales floor and workshop stations clean, organized, and visually appealing.
• Independent Floor Management: Manage the entire shop flow solo, including balancing walk-in retail traffic with scheduled candle-making sessions.
• Operational Opening/Closing: Execute start-of-day and end-of-day procedures independently, including till reconciliation, security protocols, and shop "reset."
• Autonomous Problem Solving: Address customer inquiries, inventory discrepancies, or equipment issues professionally without immediate on-site supervision.

Workshop Instruction & Production

• Lead individuals and groups through the custom candle-making process.
• Ensure all safety protocols are followed during the handling of hot wax and fragrance oils.
• Maintain workshop inventory (wicks, jars, wax) and prep materials for upcoming classes.
• Assist in cleaning and resetting the maker-space between sessions.

• Customer First Mindset: Previous experience in retail, hospitality, or a "maker" environment is highly preferred.
• Adaptability: Ability to switch gears quickly between ringing up a sale and teaching a technical skill.
• Public Speaking: Comfort speaking in front of small groups to give clear, concise instructions.
• Precision: Strong attention to detail, specifically regarding measurements and timing for candle production.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs (e.g., wax cases or inventory shipments).
• Advanced Multitasking: Proven ability to monitor a "curing" candle or a pouring group while simultaneously acknowledging and assisting new retail customers entering the shop.
• Time Management: Highly organized with the ability to "triage" tasks—knowing when to pause a workshop instruction for 30 seconds to ring up a quick retail sale.
• Reliability: A track record of punctuality and dependability, as the shop’s operations depend entirely on the solo associate's presence.
