Reports To: Hoist Operations Manager
Position Type: Full-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Hoist Technician to support the maintenance, inspection, and repair of our growing fleet of personnel hoists. This role is critical to ensuring equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all applicable regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
· Perform scheduled maintenance and preventive maintenance on personnel hoists and related equipment
· Conduct periodic inspections and assist with drop tests
· Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues; troubleshoot equipment breakdowns
· Respond promptly to service calls and emergency repair requests
· Recommend and implement repair solutions and system improvements
· Complete service reports, inspection checklists, and documentation accurately
· Communicate effectively with customers regarding equipment status and repairs
· Build and maintain strong customer relationships through timely and professional service
· Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations
· Identify and report unsafe conditions or practices
Qualifications & Requirements
· High school diploma or equivalent required
· Valid driver’s license with a good driving record required
· Strong mechanical skills; electrical experience preferred
· Experience with elevators, hoists, or similar equipment preferred
· Minimum of 2 years of related experience in a construction, manufacturing, or equipment environment preferred
· Ability to read and complete work orders, reports, and inspection forms
· Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
Certifications
· OSHA 30-hour certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
· SST 40-hour certification required for applicable job sites
· Additional equipment-specific training will be provided
Work Environment & Physical Demands
· Work performed on construction sites, in industrial environments, and outdoors in varying weather conditions
· May require working at heights
· Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally
· Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical tasks for extended periods
Schedule & Travel
· Full-time position with potential for overtime
· Occasional weekend and emergency on-call work may be required
· Local New York City Metro & Long Island required; occasional out-of-state travel may be necessary
