What are the responsibilities and job description for the HVAC Technician position at Arsenal Business Growth?
Job Overview
Seeking HVAC technician with both commercial and residential clients. In this role, you will install, service, repair, and troubleshoot a wide range of HVAC/R systems. While installation experience is valuable, we are primarily seeking candidates with strong service and repair backgrounds who can diagnose complex issues, ensure optimal system performance, and deliver exceptional customer service.
This position offers a rewarding opportunity to grow your technical capabilities—whether you're an apprentice building your foundation or a seasoned journeyperson expanding into new environments. Because Connecticut is one of the more challenging states for HVAC licensing, all levels are encouraged to apply: Journeyman or Contractor-level professionals.
Responsibilities
- Install, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain HVAC/R systems including AC units, boilers, furnaces, refrigeration units, heat pumps, and ventilation systems.
- Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, HVAC design plans, and piping isometric drawings to diagnose issues and implement accurate solutions.
- Perform service and repair tasks with a strong emphasis on proactive problem-solving and system reliability.
- Conduct routine maintenance to ensure peak HVAC/R performance across residential and commercial properties.
- Handle HVAC-related plumbing tasks such as condensate drain cleaning and water line repairs.
- Maintain detailed service documentation including work orders, shift reports, and repair logs.
- Operate a company vehicle safely when transporting tools, parts, or equipment between job sites.
- Collaborate with other trades and support property maintenance tasks to ensure compliance and safety.
Experience & Skill Requirements
- 3 years of HVAC experience (outside of school; apprentices with strong field experience will be considered).
- Open to both commercial and residential work—training available for either specialty.
- Strong preference for candidates with service/repair experience; installation skills are a plus.
- Understanding of plumbing systems associated with HVAC systems.
- Mechanical aptitude with proven experience in equipment troubleshooting, welding, refrigeration, and boiler systems.
- Knowledge of HVAC/R codes, safety standards, and property maintenance protocols.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Positive attitude, reliability, and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
