AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is a proven national program aimed at helping all students successfully navigate a college preparatory path for university and college admissions. In the AVID class, students are educated on the numerous skills required to achieve academic success and receive additional support twice a week through collaborative tutorial groups with peers and AVID-trained tutors.

Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of college completed
- Proof of high school diploma
- Must be a caring and qualified individual committed to the success of students!
Preferred applicants will be currently enrolled in a 4-year college program or a 2-year community college program verified by submitted college transcripts.
Experience as a former AVID student is highly desirable.
Job Details

Location: In person
Salary: $17.50 per hour
Contract length: August-June
Expected hours: 12-28 per week
Work schedule: Varies, hours are typically between 8:30 and 12:30 on weekdays.
Duties
Under the supervision of the AVID coordinator and teachers, tutors perform the following tasks:
- Arrive on time for assigned shifts daily.
- Learn the 10-Step AVID Tutorial process.
- Participate in all required trainings, professional development sessions, and meetings.
- Establish and maintain rapport with students.
- Tutor students in small study groups or individually, assisting them in any subject area based on the textbook and notes they have collected.
- Facilitate student learning in a challenging, yet supportive, tutoring environment.
- Evaluate student organizational tools, including binders, class and text notes, etc.
- Set an example of personal excellence and high expectations for all AVID students.
- Communicate with the AVID staff regarding student progress and areas of concern.
