Arrowise Academy is a faith-based preschool dedicated to providing a safe, nurturing, and Christ-centered learning environment for children ages 6 weeks through VPK. We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Toddler Teacher to care for and educate children ages 12–30 months. The ideal candidate is patient, dependable, and passionate about helping young children reach developmental milestones while sharing God’s love through everyday interactions.
Qualifications
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must pass Level 2 Background Screening
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Must meet Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) training requirements (45 hours completed)
Preferred:
- CDA, FCCPC, or degree in Early Childhood Education
- Experience working with toddlers 12–30 months
- Current Pediatric CPR and First Aid Certification
- Bilingual (English/Spanish or English/Portuguese) is a plus
Required Florida DCF Training
Candidates should have completed the Florida DCF required training:
- Child Care Facility Rules and Regulations
- Health, Safety, and Nutrition
- Identifying and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect
- Child Growth and Development
- Behavioral Observation and Screening
- Understanding Developmentally Appropriate Practices
- Preschool Appropriate Practices
Additional requirements include:
- Pediatric CPR and First Aid Certification
- Fire Extinguisher Training
- Universal Precautions/Exposure Control Training
- Early Literacy Training (within the required timeframe)
Responsibilities
- Provide a safe, loving, and Christ-centered environment for children ages 12–30 months.
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities that support cognitive, language, physical, social, and emotional growth.
- Maintain direct supervision of children at all times in accordance with Florida DCF ratio requirements.
- Assist with diapering, toileting, handwashing, feeding, and other daily care routines while maintaining proper sanitation practices.
- Create a positive classroom environment using age-appropriate guidance and redirection techniques.
- Observe and document each child’s developmental progress.
- Maintain open and professional communication with families regarding their child’s daily activities and development.
- Keep the classroom clean, organized, and inviting.
- Work collaboratively with administration and fellow teachers to support Arrowise Academy’s mission and values.
- Follow all Florida DCF regulations and Arrowise Academy policies and procedures.
