Quality Manager (or Lead Quality Role)
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute quality improvement initiatives to reduce cost of poor quality (COPQ), defects, and process variation using structured project management and problem-solving tools.
- Track, analyze, and report quality metrics; develop and implement plans to meet performance goals.
- Maintain and manage the site Quality Management System (QMS), including document control, laboratory standards, and compliance with ISO 9001:2015.
- Manage customer complaints, lead root cause analysis and corrective actions (8D), and ensure timely resolution to meet customer satisfaction goals.
- Oversee internal, customer, and third-party audits; ensure compliance with ISO standards and regulatory requirements (FAR/DFARS, ITAR).
- Support new product introductions, process development, inspection methods, and testing procedures.
- Partner cross-functionally with operations, sales, and customer service; represent the plant in customer meetings and reviews.
- Coach teams on material flow, quality processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage departmental budget and support overall business objectives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, Ceramics, or related technical field.
- 7 years of quality engineering experience, including 3 years in leadership/management.
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 and experience as a lead auditor.
- Experience with PPAP, Control Plans, FMEA, and inspection planning.
- Lean/Six Sigma experience (Green Belt/Black Belt preferred).
- Strong leadership, communication, and change management skills; ability to work across all levels of the organization.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and investigative abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; SAP experience preferred.
- Ability to manage customer relationships and respond effectively to customer needs.
- Experience working in manufacturing environments; minimal travel required.
