Job Summary
The Machinist #1 position at AHC is knowledgeable in a variety of tasks associated with Drill press large and small, milling equipment, lathe, and performing layout duties, tapping holes, and performing metal finishing. Will work between Paint and Deburr. Position would go between Paint and Deburr. Prepares metal surfaces for painting, wet spray paint and quality inspections of finished parts. Read and Interpret prints. Measure, deburr, and tap metal components.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Routine maintenance of equipment. Includes the ability to change punch and die, monitor equipment for proper function including calibration, and removal of debris.
- Competent use of hand, bench, and light machine operations to perform tapping, deburring, filing, grinding and polishing on sawed and machined parts.
- Understanding of and ability to utilize micrometers.
- Use of scribe, tape measure, square, protractor, punch, and measuring devices to accurately transfer information from blueprints to the work piece.
- Selection of proper speeds and feeds, tooling, and operational sequences best suited to materials and nature of operation.
- Utilization of overhead cranes and fork trucks to receive raw bar stock steel. Performance of material Inspection, verification of packing lists and storage of steel inventory.
- Accuracy with alignment, dimensions, materials, number of components, correct corresponding machine order, and general inspection requirements.
- Post material out of stock and perform other paperwork processing requirements.
- Performance of cycle counts as prescribed by Production and Inventory Control.
- Interpretation of work orders, blueprints, and bills of material.
- Other duties and responsibilities as required.

Education and Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED). or one to three months related experience and/or training. or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills
