Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Machine Builder to join our manufacturing team. This role is responsible for the mechanical assembly of generator enclosures, piping, and heavy industrial components. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working in a heavy industrial environment, operating material handling equipment, and interpreting technical drawings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble and fit mechanical parts, enclosures, piping, and structural components
- Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and specifications to guide assembly operations
- Use forklifts, overhead cranes, and hoists to safely move heavy parts and materials
- Install major components such as tanks, louvers, frames, generators, and panels
- Use hand and power tools to complete complex assemblies and mechanical fits
- Conduct inspections and testing to ensure parts and finished assemblies meet quality standards
- Assist with on-site installation, service, and warranty work when required
- Provide feedback to engineering and supervisors for continuous improvement
- Follow all safety procedures and perform equipment inspections (cranes, lifts, etc.)
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Train and mentor junior team members
Qualifications:
Required:
- Proficient in reading mechanical blueprints and interpreting technical documentation
- Certified in forklift and overhead crane operation
- Physically able to lift 50–75 lbs regularly and work in a high-traffic shop environment
- Knowledge of material handling protocols and equipment
- Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with industrial components and tools
- Clear understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and safe work practices
Preferred:
- Experience in an ISO 9001-certified manufacturing environment
- Background in genset assembly or large-scale industrial equipment
- Service technician experience is a plus
