Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting to enhance comfort and hygiene.
- Monitor patient health by observing vital signs, reporting changes, and maintaining accurate documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Support medication administration and manage care plans tailored to individual needs under supervision or as trained.
- Prepare nutritious meals aligned with dietary requirements and assist with meal consumption to promote health and well-being.
- Utilize specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or transfer belts to safely assist with mobility and heavy lifting tasks.
- Maintain a clean, safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and ensuring infection control protocols are followed diligently.
- Provide emotional support through active listening, companionship, and engaging activities that foster social interaction and mental stimulation.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in home health, hospice care, nursing homes, or group homes is highly preferred.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR is required; additional certifications such as Alzheimer's or dementia care are a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to work with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, or memory impairments.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of patient information.
- Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and reporting health changes accurately.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including heavy lifting and assisting with mobility devices like Hoyer lifts.
