PV Performance Engineer I - Utility Scale Solar!
Job Summary
This role reports to our Senior Engineering Manager, PV Performance. The job is located onsite in Chandler, Arizona. You will work on the implementation of SmarTrack, Array’s proprietary solution for solar tracker optimization and monitoring.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Serve as primary point-of-contact with customers and contractors to guide them through the implementation process, schedule deployments, collect documentation, and report final performance gains.
- Analyze and interpret solar site design drawings and other technical documents supplied by customers, translating them into a format compatible with Array's software.
- Set up data collection from site assets to be used during the implementation process, including troubleshooting and communicating with on-site personnel.
- Follow standard processes, procedures, and product documentation while demonstrating strong technical and critical thinking skills.
- Conduct data analysis to evaluate the resulting performance gains, using PV performance modeling tools and executing sensitivity analysis when necessary.
- Report work regularly to the hiring manager.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, computer science, physics, or a related discipline.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Interest in solar industry.
- Ability to work on several projects at once and adapt to changing priorities.
- Willingness to learn and continuously improve one's technical expertise.
- Willingness to work in a team.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office.
- Experience in python scripting and version control preferred.
- PV experience with a renewables developer, independent engineer, testing body, or manufacturer preferred.
- 1 year of experience working for a PV operations and maintenance (O&M) provider, a PV engineering-procurement-construction (EPC) company, an independent engineering firm reviewing PV projects, or a PV project developer.
- Experience with site networks/SCADA.
- Experience in computer programming, especially Python.
- Experience with PV modeling software (e.g., PVsyst, PlantPredict, SolarFarmer, pvlib, etc.).
- Experience in field installations or commissioning of PV power plants.
