Production Team Lead

Department: Operations / Production

Reports To: Production Supervisor / Plant Manager

Shift: Varies by production schedule (ability to do Day shift and afternoon shift as needed)

Position Overview

The Production Team Lead is responsible for overseeing day‑to‑day operations on the production floor and leading a team of machine operators and production employees. The role ensures production lines run safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all food safety and quality standards.

The Team Lead works directly on the production floor operating equipment as necessary while coordinating line staffing, line performance and product quality. This role acts as the primary link between operators and production management.

Key ResponsibilitiesProduction Operations

· Lead daily production operations for assigned production lines

· Ensure production lines start on time and operate efficiently throughout the shift

· Operate production equipment and assist operators as needed

· Monitor production throughput, downtime, and efficiency

· Coordinate product changeovers and line setups

Team Leadership

· Lead and coordinate machine operators and production staff

· Assign tasks and monitor performance of team members

· Provide on‑the‑floor training for operators and new employees

· Promote safe working practices and compliance with company policies

· Communicate production priorities and daily goals to the team

Quality & Food Safety

· Ensure all production activities comply with GMP, HACCP, and SQF standards

· Monitor product quality and report deviations immediately

· Verify proper documentation of production records

· Work closely with Quality Assurance to maintain product standards

· Ensure proper sanitation and hygiene practices are followed on the production floor

Operational Coordination

· Coordinate with maintenance when equipment issues occur

· Assist with troubleshooting equipment or process issues

· Communicate with supervisors regarding production progress and challenges

· Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce waste

Required Qualifications

· Minimum 3 years experience in food or dairy manufacturing

· Experience operating automated production or packaging equipment

· Previous leadership or team lead experience preferred

· Strong understanding of GMP and food safety requirements

· Ability to work early production shifts (including 4:00 AM startup) if needed or afternoon shift

· Ability to work in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience in dairy processing or beverage manufacturing

· Experience with fillers, packaging equipment, or processing systems

· Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification

· Experience working in SQF‑certified facilities

Work Environment

· Food manufacturing environment with temperature changes and production equipment

· Standing and walking for extended periods of time

· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

· Use of required PPE including hair nets, gloves, and safety equipment

Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
