Director of Academic Support and Grand Programs

Job Title:  Director of Academic Support and Grant ProgramsExemption Status: Exempt 

Reports to:  Assistant Superintendent             Terms: 12 Months (220 days)

 


 

Primary Purpose: 

Lead curriculum development and provide support to ensure a cohesive, innovative instructional program that fosters meaningful learning for campus administrators, teachers, and students. Offer guidance to the district, ensuring measurable academic improvement through effective leadership, professional development, and collaboration with District and Campus Leadership Teams.

 

Qualifications: 

Education/Certification: 

  • Master's degree from accredited university 
  • Professional administrator certification

Special Knowledge/Skills: 

  • Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners 
  • Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation 
  • Ability to interpret data and evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness 
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills 
  • Holds onto the district's mission and core values while demonstrating integrity, accountability, sincerity, patience, flexibility, and humility. 

Experience: 

  • Administrative Experience Required: Principal or Director
  • Proven leadership in school turnaround, instructional improvement, and accountability 

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Support campuses in the implementation and monitoring of Campus Improvement Plans (CIPs), targeted intervention plans, and instructional improvement efforts aligned to district accountability goals. 
  • Work cooperatively with campus principals in developing and supervising the district's        instructional programs.
  • Partner with campus administrators to support instructional leadership, data analysis, and systems implementation. 
  • Direct the review, development, and revision of all subject area programs and related curriculum documents and materials, including curriculum guides, course outlines, and teaching plans. 
  • Coordinate with the principals on the ordering and use of departmental instructional aids and materials.
  • Develop a continuous system of learning that balances effective instructional practices with appropriate assessment and feedback.
  • Evaluate the curriculum and instruction program effectiveness based on evaluative findings (including student achievement data) and recommend changes as needed.
  • Collaborate with campus principals to support the implementation and continuous improvement of PLC systems, lesson internalization processes, instructional coaching cycles, and data-driven instructional planning across campuses. 
  • Collaborate with campus principals to review and analyze instructional data, identify areas in need of improvement, and support targeted strategies for campus and districtwide improvement. 
  • Collaborate with campus and district leadership to plan and provide continuous, targeted professional development aligned to curriculum, instruction, assessment, and PLC expectations. 
  • Facilitate instructional walkthrough calibration with campus administrators to ensure consistent expectations for rigor, student engagement, aligned instruction, and effective feedback practices. 
  • Communicate regularly with campus principals on district initiatives and provide support for implementation as needed.
  • Support campuses in developing targeted intervention systems for students requiring acceleration, with emphasis on closing achievement gaps among student groups. 
  • Collaborate with District and Campus leadership teams to schedule professional development support to target areas needing improvement and/or growth.
  • Develop pathways and course work for advanced students, including opportunities for dual credit enrollment and Advanced Placement classes.
  • Collaborate with district leadership to identify, support, and implement grant-funded instructional initiatives aligned to district improvement materials, professional learning, intervention systems, and academic support programs.
  • Assist in the planning, coordination, implementation, and compliance monitoring of instructional grants and funded academic initiatives to ensure alignment with district priorities and sustainability of programs.
  • Support district instructional priorities and strategic initiatives under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent.  
  • Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.
  • Comply with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Adhere to the district's safety policies and procedures. 
  • Maintain confidentiality in the conduct of district business.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of interacting with students and/or district employees in the specific work site assigned.
  • Demonstrate regular and prompt attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

Collaborate with campus principals in supervising and evaluating Instructional Coaches to ensure alignment with campus and district instructional priorities. 

 

Working Conditions: 

  • Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
  • Motion: Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching
  • Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
  • Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; occasional districtwide and statewide travel
  • Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
