Aroostook Savings & Loan is a growing, locally managed, FDIC-insured mutual financial institution headquartered in Caribou, Maine. We provide mortgage, auto, consumer, and commercial lending solutions to individuals and businesses throughout Aroostook County.
As our loan volume continues to grow, we are seeking a reliable, energetic, and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a full-time LOAN PROCESSOR at our Caribou Operations Center.
This newly created position will manage loan files from application through closing across multiple loan types. The Loan Processor will work closely with loan officers, underwriters, borrowers, and other parties to help ensure an accurate and efficient lending process.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in beginning or advancing a career in banking and lending. Previous loan-processing experience is helpful but not required. We welcome motivated applicants who are organized, eager to learn, and committed to providing excellent service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and process loan applications for mortgage, auto, consumer, and commercial loans, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Collect, verify, and organize borrower documentation (income, assets, credit history, collateral, etc.)
- Order and review supporting documents such as appraisals, titles, and employment/income verifications, as applicable to loan type
- Communicate professionally with borrowers, loan officers, and underwriters throughout the loan lifecycle
- Ensure compliance with applicable lending regulations, investor guidelines, and internal company policies
- Track and update loan files in the loan origination system (LOS), meeting all processing deadlines
- Prepare complete files for underwriting submission and promptly clear any outstanding conditions
- Coordinate with title companies, dealerships, or settlement agents to schedule closings or fundings, as needed
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required
- Prior loan processing experience and familiarity with bank regulations including TRID is a plus, but not required — we welcome candidates ready to learn
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple files and loan types simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable learning new software systems, including loan origination platforms (e.g., Encompass, Calyx, Byte, or similar)
- Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, email, data entry)
