We are looking for a highly experienced, journeyman-level plumber to join our field team. In this role, you will take ownership of the full scope of plumbing work across our single-family residential job sites—from rough-in through final trim. You will be expected to work independently, bring deep knowledge of residential plumbing systems, and serve as an expert resource to other site crew members. A license is not required, but journeyman-level experience is essential.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Champion Jobsite Safety: Consistently model and reinforce safe work practices, including use of PPE, compliance with OSHA standards, and proactive hazard identification and mitigation.
- Conduct Pre-Task Safety Planning: Lead or participate in daily safety huddles and job hazard analyses specific to plumbing scopes to ensure all team members are aware of risks and controls.
- Lead Plumbing Installation: Plan and execute full plumbing system installation in new residential construction, including piping, fixtures, water heaters, and drainage systems, ensuring compliance with design documents and plumbing codes.
- System Testing and Inspections: Perform site system testing on sanitary and domestic water systems to ensure there are no leaks per code. Facilitate rough-in and final city inspections with superintendent.
- Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Identify and resolve complex plumbing issues across all phases of construction with minimal supervision.
- System Integration: Support integration of energy-efficient and water-conserving systems in alignment with Aro Homes’ sustainability goals.
- Site Preparation & Coordination: Work with the site and materials teams to plan layout and sequencing for rough-in and final installation, ensuring seamless coordination with other trades (framing, electrical, HVAC).
- Tool and Equipment Oversight: Maintain high standards for tool use, organization, and upkeep; ensure plumbing tools and equipment are in good working condition.
- Prevent Rework & Improve the Product: Apply a quality-first mindset to the work, identifying potential issues early and communicating proactively with other trades, supervisors, and design team to drive design and product improvement.
- Lean Construction Participation: Contribute to Lean Construction workflows by identifying areas to reduce waste, improve flow, and prevent rework.
- Mentorship & Collaboration: Provide technical guidance and informal mentorship to less experienced crew members. Maintain open communication with the Site Foreman to resolve issues quickly and effectively.
- Journeyman-Level Experience: Minimum 7 years of residential plumbing experience with proven expertise in new single-family home construction.
- Technical Mastery: Strong working knowledge of the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC) or other applicable plumbing standards, and safe working methods.
- Blueprint Reading: Ability to interpret and work from construction plans, plumbing schematics, and system layouts with a high degree of accuracy.
- Tools & Equipment: Advanced proficiency with plumbing tools and equipment, including pipe cutters, threaders, and pressure testing equipment. Skills in brazing are preferred.
- Self-Reliance & Accountability: Capable of completing full plumbing scopes with minimal direction; takes pride in delivering quality work the first time.
- Team Orientation: Works well as part of a cross-functional crew; communicates clearly and respectfully with teammates and leadership.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a formal apprenticeship or technical training program preferred.
- Licensure: Plumbing license not required, but journeyman-level ability and judgment is expected.
- The role requires working in different locations as project needs dictate. Must be willing to travel to various sites within the region.
- Physical activities include lifting, walking, climbing, bending, and performing tasks in potentially inclement weather conditions.
