Nursing Clinical Educator Centralized

Main Function

The Centralized Staff Development Instructor is a clinical expert responsible for Arnot Health system-wide educational programs for staff to meet federal and state accreditation, regulatory mandates, quality management recommendations, and new policies and procedures for staff. Reports to the System Assistant Director of Education.

Duties And Responsibilities

• 1. Is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating educational programs across the Arnot Health system: such as new employee orientation, certifications (CPR,ACLS,PALS), mandates, regulations, accreditation, quality management outcomes.
• 2. Formulates a goal directed plan of teaching which is prioritized and based on determined need.
• 3. Evaluates effectiveness of teaching.
• 4. Maintains appropriate documentation of orientation activities and ongoing educational programs, including objectives, class content, evaluations, and employee attendance records.
• Maintains and updates employee educational records in the Learning Management System (LMS).
• 6. Demonstrates sound knowledge base, high level of clinical experience skill and decision-making.
• Maintains current knowledge of job functions and policies across the Arnot Health system.
• Determines appropriate teaching-learning strategies to meet educational need.
• Develops, implements, and evaluates quality learning modules in the LMS for Arnot Health.
• Provides age appropriate educational knowledge to learners.
• Serves on committees, task forces, and work groups on a voluntary and appointed basis at the Division of Nursing level.
• Demonstrates self-directed learning and participates in continuing education to meet own professional development.

• 13. Collaborates with Unit-based Educators in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating educational programs given at unit level.
• Coordinates and collaborates with Unit Directors, Decentralized Educators, , and other departments to develop and refine General Nursing, Nursing Assistant, Clinical Assistant, Unit Clerk orientation and competencies.
• 15. Performs concurrent review of educational programs and analyzes appropriateness of programs at least annually.
• Is familiar with and demonstrates Joint Commission principles and standards, and participates in the process as appropriate.
• Is responsible for attending all annual mandatory educational programs and maintaining annual competencies as required by position.
• Employee understands and demonstrates the importance of satisfying the needs of the customer/patient by interacting with him/her in a friendly and caring way, being attentive to the customer's needs, both psychologically and physically, and by taking the initiative to maintain communication with the customer in order to provide a secure and pleasant experience with the Arnot Health and Arnot Health

Education

Current NYS nursing licensure required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing required. Master of Science in Nursing preferred. BLS and ACLS instructor desirable, or completed in a negotiated time frame (not to exceed 1 year).

Experience

Minimum 3 years of appropriate nursing practice required. Excellent communication and writing abilities.

Teaching Experience Preferred.

CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION (CPR) REQUIREMENTS:

Basic Life Support (BLS) due within 90 days of hire date. Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of hire date.

Physical Demands

Ability to frequently lift 15-20 pounds. Some reaching and stooping. Required to be on feet much of the time.

Exposure Category

Category II. Tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues. But employment may require performing unplanned Category I tasks.
