Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards (NYSDOH, AABB, TJC, FDA).
- Oversee daily operations and staff training.
- Maintain accurate documentation of procedures, competencies, and quality control.
- Manage blood product inventory and vendor relationships.
- Develop and update procedures and SOPs.
- Investigate and resolve issues, incidents, and complaints.
- Participate in committees and quality improvement initiatives.
- Schedule staff and maintain adequate coverage.
- Provide education and training for employees and students.
- Stay current with new technologies and practices in laboratory science.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards and laboratory operations.
- Ability to train, evaluate, and develop staff.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Biology, or Chemistry from an accredited school OR meet NYS Department of Health requirements for a Technical Supervisor.
- Must hold a NYSED Clinical Laboratory Technology license or provide proof of application.
- Meets all federal and state requirements for a laboratory supervisor.
- Minimum of 4 years of clinical laboratory experience after qualifying as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist (or equivalent per NYS regulations).
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
