Accounts Payable Clerk

JOB TITLE: ACCOUNTS PAYABLE CLERK

MAIN FUNCTION:

Responsible for the processing of accounts payable, and assisting in the maintenance of related computer master files under the immediate direction of the Controller.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prepares invoices for payment. This includes, but is not limited to, the process of invoice matching with the Materials Management receipt as they are received in the computer system, also matching checks to invoices, and other tasks inherent in the processing of accounts payable.

Sorts and interfiles daily incoming mail as well as contacting departments regarding completed Purchase Orders.

Prepares special manual checks and associated forms for entry into the computer.

Handles miscellaneous correspondence, request, vendor and phone inquiries.

Keypunches accounts payable vouchers when assigned.

Assists in the accurate and timely maintenance of the Vendor Master File.

Is responsible for the orderly control and filing of accounts payable computer reports.

Is familiar with and demonstrates Performance Management principles and participates in the process as appropriate.

Attends all annual mandatory educational programs as required by position.

EDUCATION:

High School diploma or equivalent experience required.

EXPERIENCE:

One to two years of exposure to accounting tasks and computers desirable.

CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION (CPR) REQUIREMENTS:

No CPR required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Light physical effort. Typical office jobs. Work in comfortable positions.

EXPOSURE CATEGORY:

Category III. Tasks that do not involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues. And Category I tasks are not a condition of employment.
