Job Description
Arnold Tool and Manufacturing is seeking an experienced CNC & Manual Machinist to join our machine shop in Council Bluffs, Iowa. We are looking for a skilled machinist who can set up and operate CNC and manual equipment, read and work from blueprints, and produce precision parts to required specifications and tolerances.
The ideal candidate has strong hands-on machining experience, understands tooling and machining processes, and can work independently while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and quality.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC and manual lathes, mills, grinders, and other machine shop equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, work instructions, and basic GD&T.
- Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, and materials for each job.
- Program, enter, and adjust CNC programs as needed to meet part specifications and tolerances.
- Machine parts to specified dimensions, tolerances, and surface finish requirements.
- Inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.
- Make necessary machine, tooling, and program adjustments to maintain accuracy and quality.
- Perform first-piece and in-process inspections.
- Troubleshoot machining issues and work independently to complete jobs accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain equipment and a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Qualifications
- 3 years of machine shop experience required.
- Experience setting up and operating CNC and/or manual machine tools.
- Ability to read and work from blueprints and technical drawings.
- Strong understanding of machining practices, tooling, materials, and tolerances.
- Proficiency with precision measuring instruments, including micrometers and calipers.
- CNC programming or program-editing experience.
- Understanding of basic GD&T.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and consistently produce quality work.
- High school diploma, GED, technical degree, or equivalent experience.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs.
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination required for precision machining.
- Ability to work in a machine shop environment around machinery, noise, metal chips, and cutting fluids.
- Required PPE provided as applicable.
