What are the responsibilities and job description for the Entry-Level Family Law Associate Attorney | Uptown Charlotte position at Arnold & Smith, PLLC?
Looking for a place to start practicing law, not just observing it?
Arnold & Smith, PLLC is seeking a newly licensed or early-career attorney to join our family law team in Uptown Charlotte.
This position is designed for an attorney at the beginning of their career who wants to learn from experienced family law practitioners, develop real litigation and client-management skills, and progressively take responsibility for cases of their own.
You'll work from our uptown office, just a short walk from the Mecklenburg County Courthouse, with free parking and all the restaurants and amenities of Uptown Charlotte nearby.
What you'll gain:
- Direct mentorship from experienced family law attorneys, including board-certified specialists
- Hands-on experience with active family law matters
- Exposure to hearings, negotiations, mediations, discovery, litigation, and client counseling
- Guidance and feedback as you develop your legal writing, advocacy, strategy, and case-management skills
- Increasing responsibility as your experience develops
- A path toward independently managing your own family law cases
What we're looking for:
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- North Carolina Bar admission or admission anticipated in the near future
- Strong writing, research, analytical, and communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organization
- A strong work ethic and genuine commitment to client service
- A desire to learn and build a career in family law
Prior family law experience is helpful, but not required.
We offer competitive compensation, performance-based incentives, fully covered employee health insurance premiums, short- and long-term disability coverage, a 3% employer 401(k) contribution subject to eligibility, professional development opportunities, CLE and Bar dues stipend, and free parking at our Uptown office.
If you're ready to turn what you learned in law school into the skills required to become an excellent practicing attorney, we'd like to hear from you.
