Position Description:
The Chemical Reactor Operator (Process Technician) is responsible for batch manufacturing in chemical reactor systems. In our specialty chemical plant setting, an operator is required to follow detailed process control instructions to deliver raw materials to a reactor vessel utilizing meters, digital scales, pumps, vacuum, and other apparatus, and carry out further process instructions to batch completion. Reactor Vessel sizes range from 1,000 gallons to 13,000 gallons. A Chemical Reactor Operator is also responsible for supervising and or conducting liquid bulk material handling, filtering, packaging and accurately recording inventory transactions.
There are three levels for a Chemical Reactor Operator / Process Technician; A, B, C. Process Technician Level A is most senior and technically qualified individual, capable of managing multiple reactors and multi-step chemical processes that involve distillation, extraction and control of exothermic reactions. Candidates will be evaluated based on prior experience, wage is commensurate, career opportunity exists at all levels.
Specific Requirements:
- Works directly with Production Supervisors, peer level Reactor Operators/Technicians, Utility Workers, and Maintenance staff.
- Possesses general working knowledge of chemical manufacturing equipment including forklift operation and other safe work practices.
Background Requirements:
- High school diploma and 2-5 years’ minimum experience in the chemical manufacturing field or in a related area, or a suitable combination of education and relevant experience.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs daily and occasionally lift/move up to 75 lbs.
Benefits and Compensation
The pay range for applicants in this position generally ranges between $24.00/hour and $38.00/hour. The range is an estimate based on potential employee qualification operations, needs, and other considerations permitted by law.
