Position Summary:
The Fabrication Supervisor oversees daily operations within the fabrication department, ensuring production goals are met safely, accurately, and efficiently. This role leads a team of skilled fabricators, drives workflow improvements, and supports production planning by maintaining a consistent 2-week readiness for downstream operations. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with a strong manufacturing mindset, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Development
- Supervise, coach, and support fabrication team members to ensure high performance, quality, and productivity.
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, training, performance evaluations, and corrective actions as needed.
- Promote a positive, collaborative, and safety-focused work environment.
Production Planning & Workflow Management
- Maintain a fabrication schedule that keeps the department two weeks ahead of production requirements.
- Assign personnel strategically to maximize output and ensure coverage across all fabrication areas.
- Streamline material flows to the warehouse and assembly to improve nesting efficiency and reduce bottlenecks.
Materials, Quality, & Process Control
- Verify availability of raw materials; coordinate proactively with the purchasing/warehouse teams to ensure stock levels meet upcoming production needs.
- Oversee quality assurance processes, ensuring all fabricated components meet engineering specifications and standards.
- Identify opportunities to improve fabrication processes, enhance efficiency, and eliminate waste.
Administrative Duties
- Review and approve employee timecards.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation as required.
- Perform other related duties to support department and operational goals.
What You’ll Bring to the Table
- High School diploma or GED required, technical or trade school experience a plus.
- Proven experience supervising employees in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, make decisions, and take initiative in a fast-paced environment.
- Solid computer skills (Microsoft Office, ERP/MRP experience preferred).
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve issues quickly.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent walking, standing, and movement throughout the production floor.
- Ability to clearly communicate instructions, safety protocols, and production needs.
- Ability to quickly detect issues in materials, equipment, or processes.
- Frequent exposure to manufacturing conditions, including non-climate-controlled environments.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $58,000.00 per year
