Medical Surgical Nurse - Stroke Stepdown Unit

Location

New York

This is a 13-week contract position.

Night shift from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM. Note that block scheduling is not guaranteed, and floating may be required.

The Med-Surg Stroke Stepdown Unit is dedicated to the care of adult patients with conditions including stroke, altered mental status, renal issues, COPD, CHF, isolation needs, general med-surg conditions, pneumonia, and pulmonary problems. The unit has 64 beds and utilizes specialty equipment like IV pumps, N/G tubes, and feeding tubes.

• Provide high-quality nursing care to stroke stepdown patients.


• Monitor patient vital signs and respond to changes in patient conditions.


• Administer medications and treatments as per physician orders.


• Collaborate with healthcare team members to enhance patient outcomes.


• Document patient care and maintain compliance with medical standards.

• 2 years of experience in Medical-Surgical nursing, with stroke stepdown experience preferred.


• Current AHA BLS certification.


• NIHSS certification required (can be obtained prior to start).


• Active NY RN license and all active nursing licenses verified through NURSYS.


• Proven travel experience in nursing roles.


• Experience with EPIC EMR is preferred.
