Armitage Architecture, Inc, (Armitage) is looking to hire an experienced Chief Construction Estimator to provide expert cost analysis services for our clients in both the government and commercial design/construction markets. In this role, you will be required to consult with company senior and technical staff, clients, and customers technical project site personnel & representatives while visiting job sites, collecting, and analyzing costing data, and provide accurate and concise estimates of total project costs including but not limited to project labor, production time, and materials.

Successful candidates possess in-depth knowledge of design, engineering architecture, construction and mechanical processes, with a good eye for detail, quality with advanced mathematical skills. A top-class senior cost estimator can see the big picture of a project and accurately estimate all costs involved and required to be captured.

Requirements

Cost Estimator Responsibilities:

  • Must be able to analyze, prepare and justify the Engineer’s Opinion of Construction Cost (ECC).
  • Must be able to prepare the conceptual design estimate and specifications meeting. Government specifications providing cost based on accurate cost data and takeoff quantities.
  • Must be able to prepare detailed EEC including the Government Project Estimate Summary Sheet and supporting data consisting of quantity takeoff worksheets, indexed compilation of quotations from manufacturers and suppliers and data to support the estimated unit prices.
  • Prepare costs estimates using CSI Master Format and RS Means.
  • Meeting with clients and design teams to discuss the scope and scale of each project.
  • Traveling to job sites to gather information on project complexity, materials, labor, and other related project factors to be part of the overall cost estimate development process.
  • Collaborating with design/construction engineers, contractors, and architects.
  • Consulting with vendor industry experts to discuss cost estimates.
  • Identifying and quantifying all cost factors involved in the project as part of the final cost estimate.
  • Using industry standard computer software to calculate and formulate detailed project cost estimates.
  • Preparing, quantifying, and presenting prepared cost estimates and their direct cost breakdown reports for clients, customers, and government technical, procurement and senior management staff.
  • Support the Armitage assigned project manager (PM) in Reviewing expenditure and cost statements during all phases of the project.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in architecture, engineering, construction management, or a similar field.
  • Proven work/field experience (10 years minimum) as a Construction Cost Estimator.
  • Advanced knowledge of Design, construction and engineering estimating principals and processes on military, US Corps of Engineers sites or other government agencies is a plus.
  • Renovation, sustainability, and energy efficiency experience a plus.
  • Advanced level of computational and mathematical skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and detailed renderings for cost estimating purposes regarding Design Build or Design Bid Build for both government and commercial cost estimating applications.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills within a collaborative team environment.
  • Able to work under pressure and in tight time constraints situations.
  • Highly Proficient with computer estimation software including Microsoft Office Suite of Programs.
  • Bid and Proposal design/construction costing narrative and development.
  • Good project management skills.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Ability to occasionally work weekends


Compensation:

Armitage offers a salary range of $125,000 - $140,000 per year. Benefits package to include medical, dental, vision, group life insurance, Company STD and LTD, Retirement Plan with 3% company match, vacation time, sick time, and paid holidays.
