SUMMARY

Responsible for supervising Fitness and Program activities at the Wellness Center. Follows best practices/procedures in communicating with members during classes, on the fitness floor, in the gymnasium, and throughout the facility. Inform members of the current health and wellness options within the facility. Attend all ASYMCA trainings, special events, and staff meetings as requested. Must uphold and promote the ASYMCA mission by demonstrating the core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

Duties and Responsibilities

· Is aware and knowledgeable of current programs and classes within the facility

· Available to answer Member questions regarding current fitness classes, equipment, and fitness/sports programs.

· Conducts Member orientation appointments; supervises Members who are exercising.

· Communicates effectively with both current and potential Members.

· Leads fitness and sports activities as needed.

· Monitors all fitness and program areas within facility—assures studios are secured when not in use, equipment is stored properly, equipment and floors are clean.

· Adheres to all department and facility policies/procedures.

· Appropriately redirects minors who are not of age to utilize fitness floor.

· Notifies custodial staff when fitness areas need special attention.

· Assists in maintaining an ongoing branch retention rate of 60% or better.

· Is available to work morning, evenings and weekends as necessary.

· Performs other duties as assigned by the Sr. Director of Fitness and Sports.

· Assists with food distributions (can consistently lift up to 60 lbs)

· Other duties as assigned by Senior Director of Fitness or Fitness coordinator

Mandatory Certifications:

· Must complete all training deemed necessary by the organization.

· State Police Criminal Record Check

Physical Demands

· The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

· The employee is occasionally required to sit; stand; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; twist and reach. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75-100 pounds.

· Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position, including, but not limited to: supervising programs, walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting, and demonstrating exercises.

Work Environment

This job operates in a Wellness Center, with much of the day spent on the fitness floor and walking throughout the facility. The position will interact with children and adults daily.

Travel

Travel is not required for this position.

Education and Experience

· High School Diploma or GED diploma required

· Familiar with how to work fitness equipment

· Must be at least 18 years of age

· Able to make decisive, sound decisions

· Must possess strong interpersonal and customer service skills

· Experience in a fitness environment preferred

Pay: $11.00 - $14.00 per hour
