SUMMARY
This position directly supports the work of the ASYMCA Aquatics Director. Additionally, assists in the organization and implementation of all aquatics programs, including but not limited to, youth lessons, adult lessons, water aerobics, and swim teams.
Main Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and supervise swim lesson programming and staffing.
- Ensure Staff are trained and provide quality classes;
- Ensure Budget is adhered to and steps are implemented to achieve success;
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Develops, implements, and manages operating plans to promote program and/or membership growth for the ASYMCA. Executes strategies to ensure that members and/or program participants connect with one another and connect with the ASYMCA.
· Assist in the training and supervision of all aquatic staff. Facilitates communication and provides leadership. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
· Ensures that Swim Lesson standards are developed, implemented and a tracking system is in place to meet quality and safety procedures
· Ensures all lifeguards meets the Red Cross Lifeguard training certification.
· Ensures all Swim Instructors meet Branch Swim Lesson training best practices.
· Time, attendance and track part time aquatics staff hours
· Direct supervision of all aquatics staff in the absence of the Aquatics Director
· Responsible for CPR Training of ASYMCA Employees monthly.
- Responsible for reporting staff changes and updates to HR in a timely manner for processing (New Hire, PT, FT, Work, Salary Changes, Terminations)
Mandatory Certifications:
CPR/First Aid/AED
Certified Pool Operator
Red Cross or YMCA of USA Lifeguard Certification
ASYMCA Swim Instructor and/or Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Certification
State Police Criminal Record Check
Instructor in a nationally recognized first aid program
YMCA Lifeguard Trainer or equivalent
Physical Demands:
· The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
· The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
· Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise program activities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations (depending upon the programs)

Work Environment:
This job operates in a wet/dry environment. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Travel
No travel for ASYMCA business purposes is required or authorized. Driving to and from work does not constitute driving for ASYMCA business purposes.
Education and Experience
Must be 21 years of age.
Bachelor's degree in physical education, recreation or related field from an accredited college or university is preferred.
One to three years of recreation, pool management, lifeguard, swim instructor, or water park experience and/or equivalent combination of education, training and experience is required.
Experience supervising staff and developing pool and class schedules is required.
Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Aquatic Management is preferred.
