Location: Armed Services YMCA Headquarters (remote)
Reports to: VP of Development
Status: Full-time, exempt
Salary: $70-80K commensurate with experience


Position Overview
The Grants Manager plays a vital role in advancing ASYMCA’s mission through strategic fundraising. This position leads grant prospecting, proposal development, and stewardship to secure funding and deliver mission-critical programs. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about supporting military families.

Key Responsibilities
1. Grant Research & Prospect Identification
  • Proactively identify potential federal, state, foundation, and corporate grant opportunities aligned with ASYMCA’s mission.
  • Maintain a forward-looking grants calendar and support internal awareness of funding timelines.
2. Proposal Development & Submission
  • Develop compelling, mission-driven grant proposals, including narratives, budgets, letters of intent, and supporting materials.
  • Collaborate closely with program staff, finance, and the VP of Development to align content with organizational goals.
  • Ensure timely and high-quality submission of all grant materials.
3. Grant Management & Compliance
  • Track all grant-related activities—from submissions to award, through implementation and reporting.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date grants database records, generating timely reports and ensuring compliance.
  • Oversee deliverables and ensure alignment with funder requirements.
4. Stewardship & Relationship Management
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with grantors and oversight committees.
  • Prepare tailored communication and impact reports for funders.
  • Represent ASYMCA in meetings, on panels, or at fundraising events as needed.
5. Budgeting & Evaluation
  • Collaborate on developing and managing grant budgets and tracking expenditures.
  • Contribute to strategic planning processes and help assess fundraising effectiveness and program impact.
6. Internal Coordination & Reporting
  • Serve as a liaison across departments to support grant-related initiatives.
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly reports for leadership and the National Board of Directors.
  • Attend relevant meetings and support board reporting on grants.
7. Administrative & Miscellaneous Duties
  • Maintain confidentiality in all organizational matters.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the VP of Development

Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • Minimum of 5 - 7 years of relevant experience in grant writing, fundraising, or grants management required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in nonprofit or military-support organizations preferred.
Skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking capabilities, with precision and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in grant databases and CRM systems (e.g., Virtuous, Blackbaud, DonorPerfect, Instrumental).
  • Budget development and financial management skills.
