Role Description The Senior Estimator is a full-time, on-site role based in Celina, OH, responsible for leading the preparation of accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial and institutional construction projects. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing plans and specifications, performing detailed quantity takeoffs, obtaining and analyzing subcontractor and supplier quotes, and developing complete bid proposals. The Senior Estimator will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and field supervisors to clarify scopes, assess constructability, and align estimates with project schedules and means and methods. This role also involves refining estimating standards, maintaining historical cost data, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and supporting contract negotiations and value-engineering efforts. The Senior Estimator is expected to mentor junior estimators, contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes, and participate in preconstruction meetings with clients and partners.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in construction estimating for commercial or institutional projects, including quantity takeoffs and cost analysis.
- Strong proficiency with estimating and project management software (e.g., digital takeoff tools, Excel, and construction management platforms).
- Solid knowledge of building materials, construction methods, subcontractor scopes, and industry cost trends.
- Ability to interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings and specifications with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop clear, well-documented estimates and assumptions.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with internal teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients.
- Proven organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
