ARM Energy’s Midstream team is seeking qualified candidates for a Survey - GIS Team Lead for Pipelines and Facilities based out of our Houston office.
The Survey Team Lead is a supervisory role responsible for managing and coordinating survey operations for midstream oil and gas projects. This includes overseeing the work of third-party field survey teams to ensure the accurate collection of data for pipelines, facilities, and other energy infrastructure projects.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Team leadership and management: Supervise and manage third party survey crews and technicians to ensure safety, accuracy, and efficiency.
- Project execution: Oversee daily survey operations, including planning, scheduling, and ensuring project completion on time and within budget. This involves leading third party crews performing boundary, topographic, and construction surveys.
- Data collection and quality control: Ensure the accurate collection of survey data using advanced equipment like GPS, robotic total stations, and laser scanners. Implement quality assurance processes to ensure data consistency.
- Stakeholder coordination: Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and construction teams to provide essential data and coordinate on project requirements.
- Compliance and Safety: Enforce industry standards, regulations, and company safety protocols. This includes ensuring all work adheres to federal, state, and local requirements.
- Reporting: Prepare and present survey reports, maps, plats, and other deliverables for clients and project documentation.
- Will assist with the overall execution of large-scale capital projects

- Pipeline route planning... Determining optimal routes for new pipelines to minimize environmental impact and adhere to regulations.
- Construction layout and staking...Providing precise layouts for construction of new infrastructure like pipelines and storage facilities.
- As-built surveys... Documenting the exact location of newly constructed or upgraded assets for future reference.
- Easement and right-of-way surveys... Defining and creating legal descriptions for land needed for pipeline easements.
- Regulatory compliance... Performing surveys required by government agencies, such as depth-of-cover surveys for existing pipelines.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 5–10 years in land surveying, with extensive experience in pipeline, facility, and civil survey projects.
- Licensing: Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS) license preferred in Texas and Louisiana.
- The ability to work within a small entrepreneurial team environment and help the organization achieve on-time / on-budget results.
- Technical Skills:
- Expertise in pipeline route surveys and construction staking/as-builts, ROW plats, and pipeline facility site development. and civil infrastructure surveying.
- Proficiency in survey software such as AutoCAD Civil 3 D, Trimble Business Center, Leica, and GIS tools.
- Strong knowledge of GPS, LiDAR, and remote sensing technologies.
- Experience in civil projects is a plus.
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines efficiently.
- Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
