Position Summary
The Beverage Manager is responsible for the overall operation, financial performance, and guest experience of all beverage outlets, including the hotel bars and the Starbucks® coffee shop. This role oversees beverage service standards, staff leadership, inventory control, purchasing, and cost management while delivering impeccable customer service consistent with the hotel’s brand and service expectations. The Beverage Manager works collaboratively with culinary, banquet, and hotel leadership teams to ensure seamless operations and exceptional guest satisfaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Operations & Guest Experience
- Ensure exceptional, consistent guest service in all beverage outlets, including bars and the Starbucks coffee shop.
- Maintain high standards of professionalism, cleanliness, and presentation across all beverage areas.
- Address guest concerns promptly and professionally, resolving issues to ensure guest satisfaction and loyalty.
- Monitor service flow and adjust staffing and processes to maintain efficiency during peak periods.
- Ensure compliance with hotel service standards, brand guidelines, and Starbucks operating requirements.
Staff Leadership & Management
- Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and supervise beverage staff, including bartenders, baristas, supervisors, and support staff.
- Conduct onboarding, ongoing training, and coaching to reinforce service standards, beverage knowledge, and upselling techniques.
- Lead performance evaluations, corrective actions, and employee development plans.
- Foster a positive, respectful, and accountable work environment.
- Ensure appropriate coverage and labor management in alignment with business levels.
Purchasing, Inventory & Cost Control
- Oversee ordering of all beverage products, supplies, and equipment for bars and Starbucks.
- Maintain accurate inventory controls, including receiving, storage, rotation, and par levels.
- Conduct regular inventories and analyze usage, waste, and variances.
- Control beverage costs through effective purchasing, portion control, and loss prevention.
- Collaborate with vendors and negotiate pricing and product availability when applicable.
Financial & Administrative Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage beverage revenue, labor costs, and expenses to meet or exceed budgeted goals.
- Review sales reports, forecasts, and operational metrics to drive profitability.
- Ensure compliance with cash-handling procedures, POS accuracy, and internal controls.
- Assist in developing beverage menus, promotions, and seasonal offerings.
- Prepare reports and documentation as required by hotel leadership.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including alcohol service laws.
- Enforce responsible alcohol service policies and ensure staff certifications are current.
- Maintain a safe work environment, adhering to health, safety, and sanitation standards.
- Ensure Starbucks brand, food safety, and operational compliance at all times.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in hospitality, business, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of beverage or food and beverage management experience, preferably in a hotel or resort setting.
- Prior experience managing bars and/or branded coffee concepts (Starbucks preferred) strongly desired.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Thorough knowledge of beverage operations, including cocktails, beer, wine, and coffee service.
- Proven ability to manage inventory, ordering, labor, and costs effectively.
- Exceptional guest service mindset with attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with POS systems, inventory software, and basic financial reporting.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Work Environment
This position operates in a hospitality environment with exposure to food and beverage service areas, including bar and coffee shop settings. Flexibility and availability during high-volume periods are essential.
Pay: $45,000.00 per year
