Arlington County's Office of Voter Registration & Elections is seeking a Mail Ballot IT Support Specialist to manage the Mail Ballot and IT Support programs. This position will perform entry-level business systems analysis work to support department systems and applications to include troubleshooting, testing, programming, maintenance, and data management; administering the mail ballot program; and providing assistance in other election-related activities.

Arlington County's Office of Voter Registration & Elections is seeking a Mail Ballot IT Support Specialist to manage the Mail Ballot and IT Support programs. This position will perform entry-level business systems analysis work to support department systems and applications to include troubleshooting, testing, programming, maintenance, and data management; administering the mail ballot program; and providing assistance in other election-related activities.
Responsibilities
Specific duties include:
- Maintaining department applications and meeting with users to understand business needs, evaluates feature requests, and supports process improvements and reporting requirements;
- Managing vendor contracts and submitting and tracking support tickets;
- Maintaining access and security controls and compliance with security standards;
- Monitoring data integrity and compliance during data transfers;
- Maintaining an inventory of department computers, printers, etc. and providing end-user assistance and training, assessing training needs, and assisting department employees with troubleshooting;
- Administering the mail ballot program including data entry of applications, maintaining the list of ongoing mail ballot requests, notifying voters of their application status, responding to inquiries from voters, and ensuring timely delivery of mail ballots;
- Overseeing returning mail ballot processes, tracking, and tabulation.; and
- Recruiting, scheduling, and training large numbers of temporary and seasonal staff from diverse backgrounds and varying levels of computer proficiency.
Qualifications
Selection Criteria:
Minimum
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, Mathematics, or a related field; and
- Some experience in user support and training and developing, operating, or working with business applications.
Desirables: Preference will be given to applicants with experience in one or more of the following:
- Experience managing vendor contracts;
- Knowledge of the use and operation of elections management and/or mail ballot systems; and/or
- Management of volunteers and short-term workers.
- Applicants need to be registered voters in Virginia.
