The Arlington County Gymnastics program has something for everyone! This program supports a popular and robust recreation program that provides over 250 classes annually. Additionally, the program supports two competitive teams: the Arlington Aerials women’s competitive team and Arlington Tigers men’s competitive team. The program is housed in the Barcroft Sports and Fitness Center, a 30,000 sf. Facility that includes over 20,000 sf. of gymnastics.
Specific duties include:
- This position will be responsible for a leadership role within our Recreational Gymnastics program by directing coaching staff, providing customer service, and/or maintaining the daily schedules.
- Supporting and collaborating with the Recreational Gymnastics Manager and program by coaching classes, camps, and special events, maintaining the program curriculum, creating stations/rotations, and providing customer service;
- Providing tailored Gymnastics instruction to student's needs while evaluating student performance;
- Instructing each level of the program’s recreation classes spanning from preschool, youth, teen, adult, and adapted levels;
Setting up equipment prior to class and securing equipment after class;
Inspecting equipment and reporting unsafe equipment to supervisor;
Recommending purchase of supplies and equipment;
Completing required class documentation such as attendance reports, skill tracking, evaluations, incident reports, etc using Microsoft Office; and
Performing other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience communicating with large and diverse groups, staying organized, managing priorities, being flexible, and motivating others. In addition, candidates must exercise mature judgment and sound decision-making, with basic computer skills, Microsoft Office products, and digital information management skills.
Minimum:
High school diploma/GED;
1200 hours of technical experience in Gymnastics (may come from a variety of sources, such as work experiences, volunteer experiences or formal athletic participation); and
Must have at least 100 hours as an instructor.
Desirable : Preference may be given to those with a Bachelor’s Degree (or above) in a related field and experience in one or more of the following:
Previous gymnastics and/or summer camp experience;
Working in a USA Gymnastics Member club setting; and
Working with/spotting children/teens/adults and lifting gymnastics/heavy equipment.
Special Requirements
Must obtain (or maintain) the following within 60 days of hire
- USA Gymnastics Membership;
- USA Gymnastic Certification;
- CPR/AED; and
- Safe Sport.
Work Hours: Schedule varies based on the facility events at Barcroft Sports & Fitness Center. Must be available to work varying shifts which may include evenings and weekends (i.e., Monday – Friday, 9:00am - 9:00pm and Saturday – Sunday, 8:00am – 8:00pm).
