The Commissioner of Revenue is seeking two Administrative Specialists (NB) in the Vehicle Personal Property Division to perform administrative support functions for the DMV Select Counter/Call Center and Compliance which educates taxpayers on applicable regulations and assists them with state and local registration.


Specific duties include:

  • Assisting in the scheduling, coordinating and monitoring on-going work of the Divisions program;
  • Researching and compiling information and statistics regarding customer accounts for the purpose of accounts management;
  • Serving as a liaison to internal and external organizations, stakeholders and customers;
  • Providing training instruction for staff;
  • Monitoring incoming work and ensuring staff are completing tasks correctly and on-time;
  • Serving as first line of support for counter and phone staff for both personal property tax and DMV Select;
  • Preparing account tracking reports and distributing to staff;
  • Reviewing program and procedures for trends and patterns, including making recommendations for program enhancements;
  • Assisting with the administration of selected programs or functional areas assigned to team members including monitoring customer flow at the counter, in lines and/or on the phones within a call center structure.

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Knowledge of personal property tax preparation and Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) regulations
  • Knowledge of DMV state and federal tax laws and regulations
  • Excellent written, reading and oral communication skills to comprehend complex legal materials and compose letters or narrative reports
  • Strong interpersonal skills to resolve complaints and provide high level customer service
  • Strong organizational skills for scheduling, coordinating, and tracking work for multiple teams

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completion of the requirements for graduation from a standard senior high school or vocational school, a GED certificate, or the equivalent; and
  • Considerable experience in tax preparation, Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) registration/administration or other experience directly related to the area of assignment.

Substitution: Successful completion of college coursework from an accredited college or university may be substituted for the experience requirement.

Desirables: Preference may be given to candidates who possess a Bachelor’s degree in business administration/accounting related and/or with one or more of the following experience:

  • Working directly with the public, both in person and over the telephone, explaining procedures/rules;
  • Working with call center procedures;
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel) and familiarity with tax/revenue software;

Special Requirements

A pre-hire background check will be made on all candidates who are selected for employment. It may include checks of the following criminal record, driving record, education, professional licensure, and credit history. You may be required to sign a release authorizing the County to obtain your background information.

Work Hours: Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Some telework may be available contingent upon workload and supervisor approval.
