The Department of Parks & Recreation (DPR) is seeking a Head Lifeguard for the Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness Center to serve as the primary supervisor in the facility and monitor two bodies of water, including a 50-meter pool and a leisure pool with a water slide and other play features. Lifeguards will work on deck or in lifeguard chairs and serve as the primary protection against water related injuries. This position will be responsible for ensuring the safety of all aquatic participants.
The Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness Center has something for everyone! A 50-Meter FINA compliant pool, a Leisure Pool with in-water volleyball & basketball, and a lazy river, along with a fitness studio, three community rooms, and two wet-classrooms for fitness classes, parties, and gatherings.

QUALIFICATIONS
Certification Requirements: This position will be required to also obtain an American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor certification within 90 days of hire.
Background Check: A pre-employment criminal records check will be conducted. It will include checks of the following: criminal record, driving record, education, professional licensure, and credit history. You will be required to sign a release authorizing the County to obtain your background information.
Working Conditions
Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Work Hours: This is a 40-hours a week position.

Responsibilities
Specific duties include:
- Observing and enforcing pool rules and water safety policies among lifeguards and aquatic participants while maintaining safe water quality (pool chemical checks) and assuring safety among the pool deck;
- Recruiting, hiring and training part-time and temporary lifeguard staff at the Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness Center;
- Conducting daily pool briefings to communicate pool activities for the day for all lifeguards;
- Completing timecards, employee evaluations, annual reviews and recommending merit awards;
- Greeting patrons and guests;
- Attending all staff meetings and in-service trainings;
- Serving as an on-deck lifeguard to cover shifts or works a regularly scheduled on-deck shift;
- Providing emergency care and treatment;
- Creating weekly work schedules for staff as well as completing incident/accident reports, shift reports, water emergency reports, and water chemistry logs;
- Ensuring compliance with County policies and procedures and Health and safety standards; and
- Performing other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent;
- Some experience working as a lifeguard in an aquatic facility setting; and
- Possession of the following certifications at time of hire:
- CPR/First Aid/AED;
- American Red Cross Lifeguard; and
- Certified pool operator.
- Lifeguarding for the Professional Rescuer Certification;
- American Red Cross Water Attraction Credential for Lifeguards.

- Schedule varies, anytime from:
- Monday - Friday, 4:30am – 10:30pm
- Saturday, 5:30am – 8:30pm; and/or
- Sunday, 7:30am – 8:30pm
- Schedule may vary based on the facilities schedule of events.
- Required to work nights and weekends on occasion and during nontraditional business hours.
