What are the responsibilities and job description for the Receptionist/Administrative Assistant position at Arlington Autism Center?
Job Summary
We are looking for someone who is great with technology and learns quickly. Your main job will be answering incoming calls and following up with people who have contacted our clinic before, while using our systems and tools confidently. You do not need medical office or customer service experience; we will train you on all of that. However, you must have strong practical IT skills and be very comfortable working with computers and software.
What “IT skills” means here
When we say IT skills, we mean things such as: being very comfortable on a computer, picking up new software fast, troubleshooting basic issues, and understanding how different systems and tools connect and work together. This is not a highly specialized programming job, but you should be beyond basic computer use and able to handle tech tasks confidently.
Core responsibilities
- Answer incoming phone calls to the clinic using our software and tools.
- Call back people who have contacted us before and follow a simple script.
- Learn our workflows and follow them consistently; we will provide full training.
- Handle basic IT tasks related to your role (user accounts, passwords, browser tools, simple troubleshooting) with minimal hand‑holding.
Requirements
- Strong comfort with computers, apps, and basic IT troubleshooting (beyond just “basic user”).
- Ability to learn new software and processes quickly.
- Clear spoken English and willingness to talk on the phone (we will train you on what to say).
- Reliability and attention to detail when following step‑by‑step instructions.
- Enough IT knowledge to understand and work with tools, automations, and online systems without being overqualified or highly specialized.
What we will train you on
- How to talk to parents and clients on the phone.
- Exactly what to say on calls (scripts and checklists).
- How to use our specific systems and workflows in the clinic.
- Any clinic‑specific or autism‑related information you need; no prior healthcare background required.
