The farm work position includes duties associated with the planting, cultivation, harvesting of various flowers and plants. This work can require standing, walking, stooping, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds for long periods of time outdoors in all weather conditions. This work requires adherence to important food safety and quality standard operating procedures and the ability to work quickly and consistently alongside fellow workers with a positive, professional, team based attitude and a consideration for the safety and health of fellow workers and of the consumers who will purchase and consume the crops grown, harvested, packed, and shipped from the farm. THE EMPLOYER WILL UTILIZE THE BELOW STAGGERED ENTRY DATES: 3/1- 25 workers 4/1- 36 workers 5/11- 15 workers Perennials and Hosta Farm Equipment Operation During Field Operations: Workers may be required to operate tractors and other farm equipment during field operations as an incidental activity in the production of crops. Properly licensed workers may be required to transport fellow employees. Before any worker is required to operate any farm equipment, the worker will be instructed in the proper and safe operation of tractor. Workers will be required to operate tractors according to instructions and in a manner that protects the operator, other workers, trees, crops and equipment. Repeated failure to obey operating and safety instructions may result in termination Workers will be cutting the plants to produce viable seeds at a rate of at least 1600 cuttings per hour. The cuttings must be counted and placed in packages totaling 52, 26 on each side. Worker are expected to stoop, bend or squat for long periods of time and be organized and precise in their product counts. Workers may be expected to use a small tractor to transport packages to the onsite cooler and deliver empty boxes to other workers. Hand Seed Packaging/Counting Workers will be cutting the plants to produce viable seeds at a rate of at least 1600 cuttings per hour. The cuttings must be counted and placed in packages totaling 52, 26 on each side. Workers may be expected to use a small tractor to transport packages to the onsite cooler and deliver empty boxes to other workers. Harvesting Duties Harvester’s field activities will include the harvesting and packaging of URCs, trimming and maintaining the crop, scouting for pests and weeding, planting, and preparing areas to plant. The work may also include data collection and data entry, administrative tasks, quality control audits, inventory tracking, and labeling.
