Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Small Engine Mechanic to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining small engines and equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Your expertise will help keep our customers’ outdoor power equipment, lawn mowers, construction equipment, and other small engines running smoothly. Duties
- Diagnose issues with small engines, including lawn equipment, generators, and power tools using schematics and technical manuals
- Perform repairs on small engines, including engine overhaul, carburetor cleaning, spark plug replacement, and fuel system repairs
- Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, filter replacements, and tune-ups to extend equipment lifespan
- Troubleshoot electrical systems and perform electrical diagnostics on small engine equipment
- Use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other mechanical tools to complete repairs efficiently
- Test repaired equipment to ensure proper operation and safety standards are met before returning it to the customer
- Maintain accurate service records, parts inventory, and repair documentation for all work performed
Skills
- Proven dealership experience or service technician background with small engines or related machinery
- Strong mechanical knowledge of small engine systems and power generation systems
- Ability to read schematics and technical manuals for electrical diagnostics and repairs
- Experience with diesel engine repair, automotive repair, or heavy machinery is a plus
- Skilled in electrical work including troubleshooting electrical systems and soldering components
- Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other mechanical repair tools
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly
- Physical ability for manual handling and heavy lifting required during equipment repair tasks
- Familiarity with vehicle maintenance procedures and equipment troubleshooting techniques
