Business Analyst – Capital Markets

Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst with strong Capital Markets / Investment Banking experience to work closely with business stakeholders and technology teams. The candidate will be responsible for requirements gathering, functional analysis, process mapping, testing, and supporting technology solutions across the capital markets trade lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather, analyze, document, and validate business and functional requirements.
- Prepare BRDs, FRDs, User Stories, Use Cases, Functional Specifications, Process Flows, and Acceptance Criteria.
- Work with stakeholders across Front Office, Middle Office, Back Office, Operations, Risk, Compliance, and Technology.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of the Capital Markets Trade Lifecycle including order capture, execution, confirmation, clearing, settlement, and reconciliation.
- Work with Equities, Fixed Income, FX, and Derivatives products.
- Perform gap analysis, impact analysis, process mapping, and current-state/future-state analysis.
- Collaborate with developers, QA teams, architects, and product owners throughout the SDLC.
- Develop test scenarios, test cases, and UAT plans; support defect triage and resolution.
- Use SQL and Excel for data analysis and validation.
- Support regulatory, reporting, risk, and operational change initiatives.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Backlog Refinement, and Sprint Reviews.
- Maintain requirements traceability and ensure business requirements are accurately translated into technical solutions.
- Communicate effectively with senior stakeholders and provide project/status updates.
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of Business Analyst experience, preferably within Capital Markets, Investment Banking, or Financial Services.
- Strong understanding of Capital Markets and financial products.
- Hands-on experience with Trade Lifecycle and Front/Middle/Back Office processes.
- Strong experience creating BRDs, FRDs, User Stories, Functional Specifications, and Process Flows.
- Excellent requirements gathering and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience with UAT, Functional Testing, Defect Management, and SDLC.
- Strong SQL skills for data analysis and validation.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Must be willing to work onsite in Jersey City, NJ.
