Role Description The Heavy Equipment Mechanic / Travel Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Poyen, AR, responsible for maintaining and repairing refuse and recycling equipment and related vehicles. Day-to-day tasks include inspecting equipment, diagnosing mechanical and hydraulic issues, performing routine preventive maintenance, and completing repairs in the shop and at customer locations. The role involves traveling to job sites as needed, documenting all work performed, and communicating clearly with customers and team members about equipment status and repair recommendations. The technician will use diagnostic tools, hand and power tools, and follow safety protocols to ensure equipment operates reliably and efficiently. This role also supports installation, testing, and commissioning of new equipment, and participates in continuous improvement of maintenance procedures.

Qualifications

- Proficiency in equipment repair and mechanical troubleshooting for hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and service documentation.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in diesel, automotive, or heavy equipment mechanics preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to customer sites as required.
- Commitment to workplace safety, proper use of PPE, and adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Previous experience in municipal, fleet, or commercial equipment service is a plus.
