Position Summary: The Health Information Clerk/Tech is responsible for various clerical duties in the office to include scanning of documents to include ER, OP records to include ODS & POB records, assembly of inpatient records, chart tracking entry, chart deficiency maintenance, recording of certain statistical information, reporting of statistical information to department manager, preparation of birth certificates and transmitting electronically to state, preparation of death certificates for inpatients and sending to funeral homes as a courtesy, and any other filing that needs to be accomplished in the department. They will also be responsible for greeting customers at the front desk and helping them with information. The clerk should be proficient in medical terminology. Basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology is also of great assistance. Adaptability is essential because the health information clerk works with many types of people.
Required Education/Training/Experience: High school education preferred, with skills and experience in MS Word and medical terminology.
