Position Summary:

The SNAP Food is Medicine Coordinator is responsible for leading the Food as Medicine program and integrating healthy nutrition into Community Food Pantries, Health Centers, Resource Centers, and other Community-based organizations. The Food is Medicine program is designed to connect neighbors facing chronic illness with healthy food resources, provide nutrition education, increase food security, food access, and provide supportive resources. This position will provide oversight, coordination, and technical assistance to all participating and potential partners in the Food as Medicine and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

The SNAP Food is Medicine Coordinator will support Supplemental Nutrition Assistant Program (SNAP) outreach and enrollment through mRelief case management software. Including but not limited to, scheduling phone appointments with potential SNAP eligible recipients, help ensure required documents and applications are submitted to Arkansas Department of Human Services (DHS). Analyzing data for reporting, development, and improving outcomes. Maintain real-time updates with state and federal SNAP guidelines, to provide input for organizational and program improvement.

The position requires strong communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, as well as proficiency in technology and basic mathematics. The SNAP Food is Medicine Coordinator is responsible for collecting and analyzing program data; preparing reports; supporting strategic planning efforts; and developing program evaluation plans with monthly, quarterly, and annual review cycles to improve outcomes and measure impact.

The SNAP Food is Medicine Coordinator works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to align program efforts, maintain compliance with organizational and funding requirements, and better understand the unique needs of supporting chronic illness, with healthy resources across our service area. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, teamwork, and commitment to hunger relief while effectively representing the Arkansas Foodbank in a variety of community and professional settings.

The SNAP Food is Medicine Coordinator will be comfortable learning new technology, as well as an eagerness to utilize Arkansas Foodbank software systems. They will possess strong interpersonal skills, a spirit of collaboration and teamwork, and a commitment to hunger relief.

  • Support day-to-day implementation of FIM program activities
  • Provide recruitment, training, and technical assistance to Community Food Pantries, Health Centers, Resource Centers, and other Community-based organizations
  • Prepare, manage, and coordinate distribution of program educational materials.
  • Conduct site visits to Community Food Pantries, Health Centers, Resource Centers, and other Community-based organizations
  • Coordinate and lead regular meetings with program partners.
  • Support use of technologies for case management and program tracking.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to identify and evaluate healthy selections.
  • Support program data management, including collecting, reviewing, and analyzing partner/participant engagement and survey data.
  • Contribute to the development of program reporting.
  • Monitor data collection from Community Food Pantries, Health Centers, Resource Centers, and other Community-based organizations and ensure confidentiality, compliance, and adhere to information security standards.
  • Engage in statewide and national coalitions to drive best practices for evidence-based Food is Medicine program as directed by supervisors.
  • Update standard operating procedures as needed to enhance programming.
  • Schedule and conduct phone appointments with potential SNAP applicants using the mRelief software platform.
  • Assist applicants with the preparation and submission of required documents to Arkansas Department of Human Services, ensuring compliance with program guidelines.
  • Monitoring the progress of applications and addressing any barriers to ensure the highest likelihood of approval.
  • Follow up with applicants as needed to resolve outstanding issues or secure additional documentation.
  • Utilize mRelief software to track application data and outcomes.
  • Analyze data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improving outreach and application processes.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports to measure the impact of SNAP initiatives and inform strategic planning.

Qualifications Required

  • (2) years of experience in public health, non-profit, or community development-related experience.
  • Registered/Credentialed Dietitian
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Software.
  • Ability to travel up to 60% in state required.
  • Valid Arkansas driver's license.
  • Must successfully pass background check and pre-employment drug screening.

Qualifications Preferred

  • The equivalent of a bachelor’s degree from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) preferably in Public Service, Human Services, Nonprofit Management, Community Development, Nutrition, Dietetics, Food System Management, or a related field.
  • Associate degree from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) preferably in Human Services, Nonprofit Management, Community Development, Nutrition or a related field
  • Experience with grant-funded programs, reporting, and non-profit organizations.
  • Proficient with feedback tools (surveys, listening sessions, and community engagement strategies)
