Responsibilities
- Assess patients’ respiratory status through detailed evaluations of vital signs, oxygenation levels, and lung function to develop personalized treatment plans.
- Administer respiratory therapy treatments using a variety of respiratory devices and equipment, ensuring optimal patient outcomes.
- Manage ventilator settings and monitor patients on mechanical ventilation in critical care units such as ICU, PICU, or neonatal units.
- Respond swiftly to cardiac arrest emergencies and participate in emergency response protocols including neonatal resuscitation procedures.
- Operate medical equipment with precision, including ventilators, nebulizers, oxygen delivery systems, and other respiratory devices.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across hospital medicine, emergency medicine, pulmonology, and trauma centers to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
- Document all patient interactions accurately within Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems while maintaining compliance with hospital policies and medical terminology standards.
Qualifications
- Valid licensure as a Respiratory Therapist with current credentials recognized by relevant health authorities.
- Proven experience in critical care environments such as ICU or emergency departments .
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and pulmonary function testing to inform effective treatment strategies.
- Hands-on experience with ventilator management, airway management techniques, and neonatal resuscitation procedures.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for accurate documentation and patient record management.
- Demonstrated ability to perform patient assessments and deliver compassionate patient care across diverse populations including pediatrics and geriatrics.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Excellent communication skills coupled with technical proficiency in medical equipment operation and respiratory therapy procedures.
