Under general supervision, this position is responsible for the collection and evaluation of traffic crash data for use in system evaluations, identification of high crash rate locations, crash rate by type of highway facility, analysis of various data related to traffic safety, and various safety studies.

Education and experience: The educational equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, GIS, mathematics, statistics, data analytics, or related degree. Experience in data analysis. Experience with SQL, Python, and/or GIS software. Experience in the design, implementation, or maintenance of databases preferred.
Knowledge, skills and abilities: Effective written and verbal communication skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of statistical methods and report writing. Attention to detail.
Working conditions: Office environment.

- Conduct traffic crash analyses for safety studies.
- Perform crash queries to identify high crash rate locations and possible causes of crashes.
- Assist in the compilation of statistical and historical safety reports.
- Assist in maintaining the crash database in an enterprise environment.
- Assist in geospatial analysis of traffic safety data sets.
- Work with others to summarize crash data, roadway data information, and calculate crash rates by various roadway types.
- Analyze crash and other safety related data.
