Child Nutrition Worker/Cook

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and energetic individual to join our team as a School Cafeteria Worker. As a cafeteria worker, you will play a crucial role in providing nutritious meals to our students in a safe and welcoming environment. Your primary responsibility will be to assist with food preparation, serving, and maintaining cleanliness in the cafeteria. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the well-being and educational success of our students.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and serve meals according to established guidelines and portion sizes.
• Assist with food preparation, including chopping, slicing, and cooking.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the cafeteria, including regular cleaning of workstations, utensils, and equipment.
• Set up serving areas with food, beverages, and condiments.
• Ensure food is stored properly and safely, adhering to all food safety regulations.
• Assist with inventory management, including monitoring stock levels and notifying the supervisor of any shortages or expired items.
• Provide excellent customer service to students and staff, addressing their needs and concerns with a positive attitude.
• Operate cash registers, handle cash transactions, and maintain accurate records of sales and meal counts.
• Follow all school policies and procedures regarding safety, health, and security.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior experience in a food service or cafeteria setting is preferred.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing situations and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Physical stamina to stand for long periods, lift heavy objects, and perform repetitive tasks.
• Must pass a background check and meet all local health and safety requirements.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States.
