Responsibilities
- Support lead teachers by assisting with lesson planning, curriculum development, and classroom activities tailored to different age groups including toddlers, preschoolers, and early elementary students.
- Engage children in age-appropriate educational activities that promote literacy, math, physical education, and social-emotional development.
- Manage classroom behavior using positive reinforcement techniques and effective behavior management strategies to create a safe and welcoming environment.
- Communicate regularly with parents about their child's progress, milestones, and any concerns to foster strong home-school connections.
- Assist with classroom organization, including setting up learning stations, maintaining supplies, and ensuring a clean and safe environment in compliance with health and safety standards such as first aid and CPR.
- Support children with special needs or those requiring early intervention services by implementing individualized strategies aligned with best practices in childhood development.
- Adhere to mandated reporting laws by recognizing signs of abuse or neglect and following proper procedures for reporting concerns.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children in educational or childcare settings, including daycare or preschool environments.
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles, curriculum development, and classroom management techniques.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues and engage parents.
- Certification in first aid and CPR is preferred; ongoing training in childhood development is a plus.
- Ability to adapt quickly to different classroom environments and support multiple teachers as needed.
- Demonstrated understanding of mandated reporting laws and child welfare best practices.
