About the Role

We are seeking a driven and experienced Mortgage Sales Director to lead and scale our mortgage sales operation. This is a senior leadership position with full ownership of sales performance, team development, and revenue growth. The successful candidate will manage a team of high-performing mortgage advisors and branch managers, with the goal of expanding origination volume, elevating client experience, and building a best-in-class sales culture.


This role is ideal for a proven mortgage sales leader who combines deep industry expertise with the ability to inspire teams and deliver consistent, measurable results.


Key Responsibilities


Sales Leadership & Performance

  • Own and drive the company's overall mortgage origination volume targets, with direct accountability to senior leadership and ownership.
  • Develop and implement sales strategies to grow market share across existing and new geographies.
  • Monitor pipeline health, conversion rates, and advisor productivity, intervening early to course-correct underperformance.
  • Set clear, measurable goals for individuals and teams; hold the organization accountable to outcomes.


Team Management & Development

  • Directly manage and mentor a team of mortgage advisors, providing coaching, performance feedback, and professional development planning.
  • Lead and develop branch managers, helping them grow as leaders and scale their own teams effectively.
  • Build a culture of high performance, collaboration, and continuous improvement across all sales channels.
  • Oversee hiring, onboarding, and retention of top sales talent in partnership with HR.


Operations & Compliance

  • Ensure all sales activity is conducted in full compliance with regulatory requirements (RESPA, TILA, state licensing laws, etc.).
  • Collaborate with operations and processing teams to ensure a smooth borrower journey from application to close.
  • Champion the use of CRM and sales technology tools to drive efficiency and visibility across the team.
  • Report regularly to executive leadership on pipeline, volume, team performance, and strategic initiatives.


Qualifications & Experience

  • 8 years of experience in mortgage sales, with at least 3–5 years in a senior sales leadership or director-level role.
  • Proven track record of managing and scaling mortgage sales teams and consistently hitting or exceeding volume targets.
  • Deep knowledge of residential mortgage products including conforming, jumbo, and non-QM lending.
  • Strong understanding of the mortgage origination process, compliance requirements, and secondary market dynamics.
  • Active NMLS license (or ability to obtain one promptly upon hire).
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, develop, and retain high-performing sales professionals.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.


Compensation and Benefits

  • Base salary: $200,000 – $250,000
  • Performance incentive: Basis points (BPs) paid on company-wide closed loan volume
