What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Sales Representative position at Ark Light Construction?
Build your career while helping build our company
Ark Light Construction is a growing general contractor serving the Albuquerque metro area. We do residential remodels, additions, ADUs, garages, and commercial tenant improvements.
We’re looking for a hunter: a construction professional with an entrepreneurial mindset who wants to own our business development seat and build it from the ground up.
How this role works
You’ll start with a phone, a CRM, existing company resources, and direct access to ownership while you learn how we scope, price, and pursue construction projects.
Our goal is for you to become independent quickly. We need someone who can take ownership of the sales process, organize their own daily prospecting, develop relationships, and keep opportunities moving forward without waiting for daily instructions.
Company ownership stays involved in strategic relationships, larger opportunities, and final pricing decisions. You’ll have support when you need it, but we expect you to take initiative, bring solutions, and keep business development moving, even when ownership is focused on other parts of the company.
Our sales systems are still developing. We’re looking for someone who can take what we have, put it to work, and help improve those systems as the company grows.
What you’ll do
· Independently prospect for residential and commercial construction opportunities through calls, networking, referrals, and direct outreach
· Build relationships with homeowners, property managers, real estate professionals, architects, developers, general contractors, and business owners
· Identify potential projects, qualify prospects, and schedule customer meetings
· Visit project sites, take photos and measurements, review available plans, and gather the information our estimating team needs to prepare accurate proposals
· Coordinate with ownership and the estimating team so project requirements and customer expectations are clearly communicated
· Present approved proposals, follow up consistently, and work to secure signed contracts
· Keep an accurate, organized sales pipeline in our CRM
· Take ownership of daily business development activities and keep improving the sales process
Our estimating and production team handles all pricing and technical reviews. Your focus is finding opportunities, gathering complete project information, and moving customers through the sales process to a signed contract.
Who we’re looking for
· Real construction experience and an understanding of how projects come together
· Ability to read basic construction plans and ask the right questions on a site walk
· Gets up to speed fast and takes ownership without step-by-step direction
· Comfortable working independently and making decisions within clear guidelines
· Consistent: you prospect and follow up every week, not in bursts
· Strong communication and relationship-building skills
· Interest in both residential and commercial work. Existing industry relationships are a plus
· Sales experience helps but isn’t required
We welcome candidates from field supervision, carpentry, project coordination, or project management who are ready to move into sales.
Compensation & growth
· Starting base salary of $41,600–$52,000, depending on experience
· Performance-based commissions on qualifying contracts
· Higher earning opportunities on business you generate yourself
· Fuel reimbursement for approved business travel, per company policy
· Higher starting pay may be considered for candidates with proven business development results
· Pay increases and advancement based on sustained performance and company growth
Full commission terms will be provided before an employment offer.
What success looks like
· First 30 days: Learn our process, establish your prospecting routine, and start running your own pipeline
· First 90 days: Build a qualified pipeline of about $300,000–$400,000, move several projects toward contract, and work toward your first signed project
